In East Africa, Down syndrome is seen as a curse, and the lack of education, understanding, and acceptance has caused people with Down syndrome to be hidden away. At the end of this year, we will begin programming in Kenya to cultivate community for families impacted by Down syndrome, and later to educate local communities about the diagnosis. We believe that with education and support, true belonging for every person with Down syndrome will be made possible in East Africa!
